Glowing Embers Pop Up Museum

Thu 20th Jul, 2017

Meeting every Monday morning from 5 June Between 9 am – 11am at Wykebeck Primary School in the Dame Fanny Waterman centre.

It’s time to don your Indiana Jones hats – helping us to create a Museum at the Fire Station in September 2017, housing your collection of stories and artefacts all about Gipton Fire Station.

We need people who would like to learn how to become community researchers to help fill the museum. Talking with local people to collect stories and artefacts; learning how to look through the archives, and how to look after the objects. Who knows what we could find!

We will work with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Leeds Museum and Galleries Service, Leeds Libraries, and West Yorkshire Archive to help us find the gems – untold stories , photographs, memories.

We are also creating two pop up museums in Saint Nicholas Catholic Primary School and Wykebeck Primary School After School.

If you are interested, please email me or call me; if you cannot come and join us on a Monday morning maybe we can come and meet you. Jane Moreland will be leading the community research group.
